On Tuesday the 5th of April, a man called Mr La Roche came to our school, B.B.P.S. He taught us all about water in the 1800s. We learnt that in the 1800s people made wells near their houses. We also learnt that in the 1800s they used fire ash to make soap. They put the ash into the water and put their hand into it so that it would turn soft. In the 1800s they had a wooden tub to take their shower in, but they had to get water from the well which meant that the water was really cold and that they had to take a quick bath. I also learnt that in the 1800s they used 20 litres of water each person which isn’t a lot. In the 1800s they didn’t have any washing machine so it took hours to clean the clothes. In the olden days they put a cover on the wells so that people wouldn’t fall in.
