COMING SOON TO A BACKPACK NEAR YOU

i.e., Please check your child’s school bag if they don’t hand over these things!

**Kids Art Works (the company formerly known as Abacus) order forms**

Last term each student completed an artwork in class; now you’ll be able to order cards, calendars, diaries, etc, with your child’s artwork on them. Online order forms (with your child’s unique order code) will be handed out – one to each child – this Wednesday (October 17th). Orders will need to be completed by Wednesday, October 31st. We should receive the items ordered around November 15th. Check out the company’s website in advance, if you’d like, to see the merchandise available. The PTA receives a percentage from all sales, so it’s a win-win.

These are great, personal gift ideas for sending to friends and family overseas (or closer to home)!

**PTA Raffle Ticket Booklets**

One book of 5 tickets (@ $5 each) per family will be sent home via the oldest or only child at the school this Wednesday, October 17th.

Money from raffle ticket sales will need to be returned by Friday 9th November (Week 4) – so you’ll have three weeks to sell your five tickets. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 16th November at 2:30pm, and winners will be notified by phone, on the school website and on our BBPS Facebook page.

The class with the most tickets sold receives a special treat before the end of term.

This promises to be a fabulous fundraiser for our school community!

**Noel Leeming Fundraiser**

For the week of Oct.29-Nov.4, Noel Leeming is extending a Friends & Family Deal to BBPS families. Most items will be available to purchase at cost +10% – and the bonus is that the PTA will receive a percentage of the sales! If you’re planning on purchasing any electronics for Christmas presents, please utilise this deal – we all benefit! Detailed flyer to follow.

OTHER STUFF TO NOTE

Vegie Bags

Grab yours before they all sell out! Five bags for $15, available at the school office. Another great (environmentally-friendly) Christmas pressie idea!

From Sausage Sizzle to Pizza A-Plenty

We’re taking a break from sausies and giving pizza a go. Our first pizza lunch will be on Tuesday 30th October. Details t.b.a.

Don’t worry, though – we’ve still got a sausage sizzle scheduled this term, on Tuesday, December 4th, to raise funds for the Enviro group.

Howick Santa Parade

Calling all creative parents! We’ve got the Howick Santa Parade on December 9th – and we’re putting together a float! Give us a shout if you can lend a hand: bbppta@gmail.com. Many hands make light work – and this year’s an extra special one, as it marks the 65th year of the Howick Santa Parade. Even if you’re not free on the day, we’d welcome any assistance you can offer in helping prepare the float for the event. Ho-Ho-Hope to see you there!

The Second hand Clothing Shop

Open the first Thursday of every month (1st Nov and 6th Dec) from 6-7pm. The shop is at the home of the Daubermann family: 16B Waller Rd., Bucklands Beach – the last house at the top of the drive. Please do not arrive outside the specified time without prior arrangement. Cash or cheque only – no Eftpos available. Queries to Janet at djdaubermann@hotmail.com If you have school uniforms that you would like the shop to sell on your behalf please hand them in at the office in a sealed bag with your name, contact number and bank account details. Please choose to support this PTA fundraiser when selling or buying second hand school uniforms (sellers receive two thirds of the selling price).

PTA Notice Board

Look out for our NEW notice board, which will be installed along the rotunda walkway. Never miss BBPS PTA news again!

A BIG THANK YOU…

…to everyone for supporting our Spell-a-thon. The kids learned lots, and the fundraising was a huge success, too. Extra congrats to Rm.3, who had the most words correct, and to Rm.8, who raised the most money. Ka Pai to everyone – and to the winning classes, we hope you enjoyed your PJ and Pizza Day!

NEXT MEETING

Tuesday 6th November 1.45-3pm – all welcome, including littlies

The Minutes (official notes) from our last meeting can be found at the link below:

Did you know?

  • The second playground shade is almost up. We’re now actively fundraising for our fitness track extension and the Junior Playpod Shed.
  • BBPS is a Decile 10 (the highest decile) school. Generally speaking, the lower the decile school the more government funding the school receives; this means that, for many things we need for our school and our students, we rely on fundraising to make up the difference. This is why the PTA necessarily has a fundraising focus and why we’re so grateful for the support of parents and our school community in supporting these efforts and initiatives.
  • PS: We’re still looking for a chairperson – could it be YOU?
