It is hard to believe that we are already into Week 6 of Term 3!

Our new PTA meeting time is the first Tuesday on a term month, 1.45 – 3pm! It was lovely to see some new and enthusiastic Mums come to our last meeting! Please feel free to join us for a coffee and share your ideas. Littlies are also welcome to join us! Next meeting is 4th September.

New PTA Members:   Please welcome Helen Di as our new Treasurer; Tracy Carter as our Communications Officer; and Steph Carter and Candice Band as our Events and Fundraising Organisers. It is wonderful to have you all on board – thank you for offering to get involved!

The revamped Chairpersons position is still vacant – this position now just involves running the meetings, being the face of the PTA, liaises with the PTA executive committee and school management; and having a complete overview of PTA affairs. If you have ever considered doing some volunteer work at your child’s school whilst meeting like-minded parents, having fun and making a difference then please pop into see Kelly or come to our next meeting to check it all out!!                                                                    A BIG thank you!

The construction of the amazing colourful sun shades over the children’s playgrounds is nearly completed and we thank all those families that have supported the past PTA fundraisers that have made this structure possible! The next item to fundraise for is the extension of the fitness track across the top of the field – this will utilize a usually very muddy area and keep fitness track usage away from the top play area, which can become very congested at times!!

Term 4 Raffle – Our big fundraiser for Term 4 will be a school raffle. We are currently looking for prizes for this. If you or your business have any goods or services that you would like to donate for this raffle please contact us on bbppta@gmail.co.nz

Have you purchased your Reuseable Vegetable bags yet? – the PTA are selling a bundle of 5 vegetable bags (40cm x 30cm) for $15. These have sold like hot cakes in Term 2 and we have had to order more – get yours before they sell out again!!! They can be reused every time you go to the supermarket to put your vegetables in instead of using plastic bags. All packaged attractively making it the perfect gift for family and friends! Spell–a–thon Please support the upcoming Spell-a-thon by sponsoring your child. Your child should have brought home already a letter explaining this fundraiser and including a Sponsorship Form. Please get in behind this fundraiser as it is our main one for the term. Make spelling fun! The test will happen on Friday 7th September. All money collected from sponsorship is to be returned to the office in a sealed and named envelope by Friday 21st September. The class that gets the most words correct and the class that collects the most sponsorship money will have a Pyjama and Pizza day on Friday 28th September.               

Abacus Art – calendars, cards the children will create a piece of art in their classrooms and then parents will be able to purchase this artwork on calendars, cards etc. A great idea for Christmas gifts to send overseas. Order forms will be handed out 18th October. Goods will be received by 10th November.

Shoe Labels – as the change of season brings about the wearing of the school winter uniform – please remember that the PTA sells shoe labels for $3 from the office – they really work!! And will guarantee no lost shoes this season!

Second Hand Clothing shop is open the first Thursday of every month – (Term 3/4 dates are 6th Sept, 4th Oct, 1st Nov, 6th Dec) Hours 6-7pm. The shop is at the home of the Daubermann Family 3/12 The Parade, Bucklands Beach. Please do not arrive outside the specified time without prior arrangement. Cash or cheque only – no Eftpos available. Queries to Janet at djdaubermann@hotmail.com If you have school uniforms that you would like the shop to sell on your behalf please hand them in at the office in a sealed bag with your name, contact number and bank account details. Please choose to support this PTA fundraiser when selling or buying second hand school uniforms (sellers receive two thirds of the selling price)

The Good Home – Howick – please support the promotion running here currently. Every time you spend there tell them our school name and BBPS point allocation increases and we are up for some wonderful cash prizes.
