‘He taonga rongonui te aroha ki te tangata’ –  Goodwill towards others is a precious treasure

Kia Ora, Nǐ hǎo, Greetings,

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter with your families in the sun.  Fingers crossed that the good weather continues throughout the week, and we are able to proceed with the ‘Family Fun Day’ on Sunday.

Welcome to our new students and their families that have recently joined us:  Nick Yu, Aedan Miller, Louis Wong and Cristian Silvast.

Our last day of term is the 13th of April, and we finish at the usual time of 3pm, returning on the 30th of April.  I have been lucky enough to be chosen to present my university research with my supervisor at the (AERA) Educational Leaders conference in New York, so will be flying out on the last Wednesday of school.    I’m looking forward to hearing what is happening world wide in the changing landscape of education from other presenters over the week.  An article was shared with me recently, looking at how jobs are going to change in the future as a result of evolving technology and automation.  The rate of change is ever increasing and national school policy is aware it needs to respond, to allow schools to respond.  The article is an interesting read, and quite thought provoking.

Homework Policy Consultation

We are moving our school policies over to a site known as School Docs.  When this process is complete, a community logon will be sent out so that all parents can have access and be part of the review process where applicable.  For this term, we need to review our school homework policy.  Please view the homework policy, and submit any feedback to principal@bbps.school.nz by the 11th of April.    Your input is appreciated.

PTA News

Family fun night is now on the 8th of April from 2.30 – 5.30 p.m.  Grab the family, friends and a picnic rug, and join our school community for a relaxed evening.  Experience the cultural cuisine we have on offer.

The next PTA meeting is Tuesday 10th April 7.30 p.m. in the staffroom.  It’s been lovely recently to see some new faces and to hear new ideas!  We would love to see even more parents joining us to help support the school community.

Room 13 – Seaweek

Room 13 wrote a poem to describe themselves as an individual using adjectives. First, Room 13 learnt about the colour wheel and the colours they could make using primary colours. Then Room 13 had to decide whether they wanted a cool or warm background or both. This poem took at least two sessions to complete, because they had to paint their background and let it dry before they could wrote their poem on it. Room 13 is very proud to their poem and artwork!

Sports News

BBPS took out the Howick Rotary Fun Run for the fourth year in a row, despite some worthy competition who were keen to take it off us! Well done to all runners, and thanks to Mr Chamberlain for organising.
