Today Room 2 went to Te Tuhi near Pakaranga Plaza. Our transportation was a bright, lime green tour bus. The seats were ragged and had strange patterns on them. I sat at the back with most of my group. My group included Victoria, Bethany, Thushar, Troy, Samuel, and me! We arrived at the car park and started walking into Te Tuhi as the bus doors started whirring close. I waited near the back of line, because I was waiting for my mum, who said was going to meet us there. She finally arrived and we walked in…

Our guide Charlotte came to meet us and then got us to sit down on the smooth tiled floor. She explained some rules and off we went, to the first stop. We walked cheerily into a room with navy blue, plastic chairs lined up as a semicircle against the walls. Charlotte then explained to us and taught us how to tell stories using body movements and gestures. She then told us to get in groups and work on a 30 second play/skit using body movements only, which meant no talking. We decided to do Peter Pan and did a scene where Peter and Captain Hook were fighting and Wendy was caught and then Hook falls into the water, straight into the ‘ticking’ crocodile’s hungry, snapping jaws. I was Wendy, Victoria a mermaid, Bethany a lost boy, Thushar Captain Hook, Samuel Peter and last but not least, Troy as the croc. We did a hilarious skit and it took a couple of guesses for the rest of the class to figure out. Did that mean good acting? The rest of the groups were cool and funny, but I preferred our one better. Charlotte then got us to stop and took us down the hallway and into…

The art room! Charlotte told us more rules and said that we can make a poster of the story we acted just then or a story that was important to you. I did Peter Pan the same as some other people in my group. The parents went around tidying after OUR mess. Making the posters was so much fun. Then Charlotte told us to finish of, because we were about to leave.

We handed our nicely done posters to Mulan’s mum and headed out the door. Before we left though, Charlotte let us see a piece of artwork and then we headed towards the bus. We drove back to school still chattering about the amazing trip. We had a snack and then headed back into the class waiting for the lunch bell to ring. It was an AMAZING experience!
