Kia Ora, Nǐ hǎo, Greetings,

What a pleasure it was to watch our year six students at prize giving last night.  Congratulations to all students on a fantastic evening, and congratulations to those students who received prizes.  The breadth of opportunities provided to students at BBPS was evident, and for this I would like to thank our hardworking staff.

The Minister of Education, Chris Hipkins, announced yesterday that this is the last year we will be required to report by National Standard.  Further guidelines are expected from the Ministry next year, though early talk is that student progress will be the focus, as well as a widening the focus beyond reading, writing and maths.  We will look to consult with the community next year on how this might look.

We say goodbye to Mrs Johnson, Miss Ahern and Miss Davidson on Thursday.  Mrs Johnson has been with the school for 12 years, and has taught a number of families.  Thank you all for your contribution to BBPS, you will be missed.

Finally I would like to thank the BOT, the PTA and all staff for an incredible year.  I would also like to thank  parents, who are so supportive of the school, in so many ways.  Have a fantastic Christmas, and a happy new year.  We look forward to seeing you in 2018!

Congratulations to Rachel Ciechowicz and Connie Chen who along with Diana Spencer completed the English Language Assistant Certificate and Stella Williams, JJ Snider and Donna Gormley who have completed the Working with English Language Learners course. Thank you all for the extra work you have put in to completing these courses which will benefit our students.

Enviro News

The Patch to Plate 2017 Recipe Book has arrived! If any students or families wish to purchase this fantastic book, they can pay $8.00 for 18 beautiful recipes which have all been tried and tested by the students at BBP! See the office.

Care Code: This message is for all families of the school. If you do enter the school grounds at any time over the holidays we would very much appreciate a moment to take care and leave the school how you would like to find it. Thank you.

Placed along the fence inside the swimming pool area will be a number of pots.  Parents and students who are swimming, it would be appreciated if you could give a container of water from the tap by the old changing sheds to one pot.  We are hoping to have a show of dahlias in our school grounds in the New Year.

If there is someone who could keep the garden outside Room 3 watered from 27 December until 8 January this would be appreciated.  Watering can and tap key available.   See Julie at the office or Mrs Chilvers in Room 3 before the end of term.

Robotics news

IMG_Robotics1

Our three robotics teams competed at ACG Strathallan School last weekend.  Team De Terminators won the Inspiration Award Cup and Team Right Angle won the Gracious Professional Award Cup.  Our third team Team Overdrive (Yuke, Samuel and Truson) scored fifth in the programming section which is the highest placing we have ever had for coding.  A great group of students who displayed all the school values.

Kind regards

Kelly Slater-Brown
