On Friday it was cross country. After lunch we walked over to the astroturf. We lined up in our whanau. Then Mrs Chilvers said in a megaphone “Year 5 boys.”  I was so scared, my heart was racing. We did stretches then clap! I was off. After my first lap I was exhausted and I wanted to stop but I gave it my best. At the end I was running like mad.   The wind rushed past me and I finshed. I was so glad it was over. I went back to my whanau and lay down on the turf.
