One beautiful summer’s day, lived a family of mice in a tiny underground cottage. Mother mouse woke up the big sister Amy. Amy woke up in a happy mood and stretched, ‘Good morning,’ she mumbled. Mother mouse asked Amy in a soft voice, ‘May you please take these goods to your grandmother? She does not feel well and is very sick.’ Amy looked in the basket that the goods were in and she saw a lot of gifts that she was sure would make her happy. Mother mouse demanded that she did not stop on the way to talk to anyone. Amy agreed and set off.

On the way through the forest Amy saw posters of a cat robber that had stolen gold and money from banks and stores. Amy was surprised when she read that the leader of the evil cat group was OVER 1,000 YEARS OLD. Amy kept walking along the path and then… ‘BOO!’ shouted a cheeky voice coming from the shadows. ‘WOW, WHO WAS THAT?’ squeaked Amy loudly. The creature in the shadows slowly came out. Step after step the creature came out. It was a cat. Amy recognized the cat from earlier in the day. She got a big shock. It was the CAT THAT HAD ROBBED ALL OF THOSE SHOPS AND BANKS! Amy did not know what to do. She screamed in fright and ran and ran as fast as she could. The basket was making her run slower. The cat was RIGHT BEHIND HER! The cat snatched up Amy and the basket and stared at her. Amy let out the biggest ear piercing scream you could ever hear. The cat had eaten all the food from the basket. Amy didn’t know what to do but scream…

There was a village nearby and Amy was very lucky that a group of rats came out of the castle. In seconds the cat gobbled up Amy and ran off. The rats were right on the cat’s heels and one by one jumped up on the cat’s back. ‘GET OFF!’ yelled the cat in a demanding way. With all that extra weight on the cat, he dropped to the ground. The rats cut off his head at once, then carefully cut open the cat’s stomach. They pulled out Amy and she said, ‘I feel weird and dizzy. Is that supposed to happen?’ The rats told her she was ok. Amy did not know what to say to the rats for saving her, so she said ‘Thank you ever so much’ and gave them all what was left of the goods in the basket. Amy was very grateful for what the rats had done for her, but she knew she had to get to her grandmother’s house before dawn.

On the way she picked some flowers and tied them together with her hair ribbon. She arrived a few minutes later and knocked on the door. ‘Lift the latch and come in,’ said a quiet voice from inside. Amy did so and walked to her grandmother’s bedroom. They were very excited to see each other. They talked about how Amy got to her grandmother’s cottage and ate some pie that Amy had got on the way at a market stall.

A hour or two later, Amy’s grandmother said it was probably time to go. Amy walked all the way home and wondered what was going to happen to the cat that tried to get away with mouse for dinner. But overall it had been a drama day for everyone. Amy walked home safely and they lived happily ever after!
