Principal’s welcome
Welcome to
Bucklands Beach Primary School
Welcome to Bucklands Beach Primary School. My name is Kelly Slater-Brown and I am delighted to be the Principal at Bucklands Beach Primary School.
BBPS is a high-performing primary school with a very strong vision that is clearly and consistently expressed by staff and students. We foster the development of lifelong, independent learning skills, a strong understanding of our responsibility and role in caring for and interacting with our environment, and a rich and varied curriculum. We enjoy a rich mix of diverse cultures and encourage students to be proud of who they are as individuals.
The school achieves academic success, especially in the key focus areas of literacy and numeracy. We also run a strong ESOL programme, as many of our students come with little or no English. Our aim is that all students leave the school with a strong sense of self-belief and a commitment to becoming positive citizens of the world.
We work closely with other local primary schools and the pathway through Bucklands Beach Intermediate and Macleans College through Te Ara Bucklands Beach Kāhui Ako.
There is a strong spirit of community at BBPS, with interested parents and enthusiastic students. We value strong home-school partnerships and know these form the basis of students reaching their full potential.
We look forward to working with you to optimise your child’s school experience.

We would love to meet you and your child
We want your child to have a great start at school.
Please come and meet us so we can show you our fabulous school of which we are very proud.
We are a small and friendly school where children and parents soon make friends and make the school the centre of their social activity.
We offer transition visits for your child before they start school so they can feel comfortable.
Parents of four-year-olds are encouraged to enrol early. Please feel free to contact the office to pre-enrol and/or arrange for a school tour.
About Us
Bucklands Beach Primary School
The school is surrounded by spectacular views of the Tamaki River and Hauraki Gulf, and within walking distance of several beaches.
Our History
In 1955 the school opened as a full primary school with a first day roll of 169. There were few roads at Bucklands Beach, a lot of baches, and housing subdivisions as we know them had only just begun. A short drive around Bucklands Beach reveals that much has changed over the years. Today, adjacent housing is highly desirable, and a prestigious yachting club and golf club are nearby. Buses provide transport to large shopping and entertainment centres such as Botany, Sylvia Park, Howick, Highland Park and Pakuranga.

After wide consultation, our values were chosen and established. We are guided in our day-to-day work by the BBP vision and values. Our values are taught in the same way that we teach other curriculum areas. We expect our values to be modelled in daily interactions and communication by all adults and students in our school community.
