Kia Ora, Nǐ hǎo, Greetings,
Can you believe we are half way through the term already? Winter has definitely landed, and the new heat pumps in the school are getting a good work out! Welcome to our new student and her family who has recently joined us: Lilly Sefton.
Grandparents Day
What a wonderful buzz there was around the school, as groups of children sat listening to stories of yesteryear, tying in with our inquiry topic for the term. Our students were so proud to host Grandparents for the afternoon. It was a truly special time, with lots of authentic learning taking place! Thanks to the Grandparents who came from near and far, to the PTA for serving the afternoon tea, and Mrs Bartholomew for her organisation.
Peer Mediators
A group of year five and six students undertook Peer Mediator training with Mrs Rowlands on Friday. They will be available to help mediate when students are struggling to do so themselves in the playground. Our Peer Mediators will wear fluorescent vests, so they are easy for children to spot in the playground. We look forward to training other groups of students over the year in this valuable skill set. Having peer mediators active in our playground helps model our values of respect, taking responsibility, relationships and building resilience.

Kindness is the colour of fresh green grass
It smells like a baby that had a bath
It sounds like a happy person laughing in the tree
It feels like fresh grass when you walk on it
It looks like sunshine in the sky
It tastes like nice ice cream
When I am kind I feel happy

Above me I could hear black bird laughing at me going through the Burma trail. The darkness was filling the night air. It was as black as when I close my eyes to go to sleep. The trees were storking me as we travelled the rope.
Below me the worms were squirming away from our group. I could hear the roots crackling and the dirt. Peoples feet moving trying not to fall.
Infront of me it was mysterious because it was creeky black. People were shouting warnings like squawking birds. l saw dim light infront of me this made me feel happy.
Behind me l hear people screaming for help as they slip and slide.l felt like everyone had disappeared from behind me like a ghost.

Above me, I hear the wind whistling,
I see the clouds darken to a light grey.
The trees in the distance tremble under the pressure of the strong wind. The kingfishers dart off of view to find the sunshine once more.
The sun disappears and sends a cold shiver down my back.
It feel like I was left alone in a stark dark place.
Below me, the squelching mud sends a woft of wet dog up to my face.
The mud feeling like slime under my feet.
I see what looks like chocolate milk, but instead it is a pond of gunky water.
The blood freezing water filled my shoes.
Mud flows to me in every direction.
Rocks below me prick my feet like knives.
Plants float up to greet me.
The water is a rainbow from the gleam of the sun.
In Front of me, I see the revolting, stinky mud as a gust of wind blows really hard against my face.
The sun glimmers, giving me the slightest amount of warmth.
In front of me I can just make out the next un-human obstacle.
Behind me, I hear sighs of relief as we approach the last obstacle.
I see my team trying to get through the infinite mud.
I hear Kate laughing hysterically, as she see the tarzan swing.
Behind me I see the confidence course!

Burma Trail
Above me the sound of crunchy leaves can be heard miles away. Children tripping over roots and screaming in horror. The rope in front is hard as rock, leaving a result of blisters. The sound of squeals and birds chirping in pitch black setting makes you shiver like you’re in Antarctica.
Below me the damp floor is slimy, and slippery with sudden steep drops. Below me, the sticks on the ground break as the stampede of elephants go over it. The broken sticks hit my foot. Below me is an insane land of slips and sticks.
In front me I can see decrypted dark trees. I front of me I can also see people waving their torches like they were saying hi! In fronting me I can hear cheers of excitement and joy for nearly reaching the end of the blood curling Burma trail.
Behind me I can hear people nervously stating “ where’s the rope, I can’t feel it”. Below me I feel like everyone behind me has disappeared like a magician vanished them. Behind me I think about finishing the Burma Trail.
