Abacus Calendars:

  • School families have requested more orders so have opened up re-orders.
  • Open from 7th November till 21st Delivery expected around 11th December.
  • Profit to date roughly $1,400

Disco: 

  • Disco ran smoothly. The office is selling leftover lollies and drinks.
  • Thank you to the helpers who cleaned up and volunteered at the disco.
  • The Whanau Leaders and Student Council sent a letter thanking the PTA for their support with the school disco.

Christmas Picnic:

  • Not doing this year. Planning on Family Fun Night early next year when the weather is more settled.

Santa Parade (Sunday 3rd December):

  • Karon Argent, Claudette Weir, Philippa Boyes and Madelein Smit are organising the Santa Parade costumes.
  • Students will be dressing up as pohutakawa flowers, tui birds and buzzy bees. They are going to ask parents of the junior school if anyone has buzzy bee outfits to lend.
  • Sign up sheet is in the office if students would like to join in the parade.

Fundraising ideas floated for 2018:

  • Chocolate Fundraiser: Looking again at both Whittakers and Cadbury suppliers and if we go with an Easter theme or not? Philippa to contact
  • The Rubbish Whisperer: Supplier of reusable fruit and vegetable bags. Anna to ask for sample
  • Christmas 2018: PTA host a craft/food market in the hall
  • Sale of Entertainment Books
  • Ladies Movie Night
  • Kids Movie Night
  • Wine tasting
  • 2 mufti days per year
  • Host Annual Kids Disco
  • 2 x Sausage Sizzles per term
  • Celebration of the Chinese New Year: Jessica to discuss at next meeting
  • Dumpling Sizzle instead of your traditional Sausage Sizzle
  • ANZ fundraising when parents sign up with the bank. Ling to look into.
  • Sell Ecostore soap. Anna to get a sample and more information.
  • Discussed selling Creokit (build your own creations kit) but decided too expensive.
  • Ice Skate Tour: Where we hire the use of a non-ice ice skating ring. The company does all marketing all they need help with is 10 to 12 people to set up and take down. Bring it in on Thursday and school might beable to use it during PE. Open it to the public over the weekend. PTA gets a percentage of the ticket price. PTA might also beable to sell food to also boost fundraising. Philippa to follow up
  • Host another Athon with the teachers
  • Raffle
  • PTA host a Mothers Day High Tea with a guest speaker
  • International food selling event (could tie in with Family Fun Night)
  • Outdoor movie night on the field (could tie in with Family Fun Night)
  • Grandparents Day tie in with the schools Book Day Parade and PTA host a morning tea
  • Family Fun Night in Term 1 when the school pool is open

Plaques for cricket and astro turf:

  • Rachel Penney is working on it.

General business/other matters:

The PTA was asked again this year to fund the 21 road patrollers end of year trip to Rainbows End. The school gets a good rate at $21 a child. The school will let us know when they would like money. Carole to check if the Year 6 need the PTA to provide the sausages for their end of year event, The Big Day Out.
