A community of agile and collaborative learners – Proud of who we are, empowered to make a difference

Kia Ora, Nǐ hǎo, Hallo, Greetings,

Welcome to our new students and their families who have recently joined us:  Minsol Kim and Minji Kim.  Congratulations to our choir who performed last night, and for the school this morning.  It’s great to watch the joy on the faces of the students, who clearly derive a lot of pleasure from singing.   Thank you to Mrs Rist for training the choir.  Staying on the music theme, Rhythm Interactive came for a day and our students loved it!  Johnny shared his South African roots, and drum rhythms with our students.  The smiles on the student’s faces said it all.  Pop over to Facebook page to view.

Project Based Learning

Last term the senior school worked collaboratively to produce a website showing  students and families activities that are available in the local area.  The idea behind this being that it would help new families who move into the area, and want to get their children involved in community activities.  The website will sit under the ‘Parents’ tab on the website.

We are underway with our term four project based learning – focusing on mini-beasts in our local area, and what we can learn from them.  This is certainly an engaging topic!  One of the goals of project based learning is to connect to our community – so far we have had specialists from Auckland University talking about mini beasts, Bunnings workers making bug catchers with the junior school, and Auckland Council have come in and met with us discuss our involvement with Pest Free Auckland next year.  We are excited to engage with authentic learning, that will make a difference to the future of our environment and benefit our community.  Next year we are going to be the hub of pest free Bucklands Beach.  Watch your mailbox for more details!

Pool

Thanks to our amazing PTA, and your support, we have now replaced the solar heating on the pool.  We know the whole community really values this resource in summer, so are thrilled that our pool will be in full action for term four lessons, and the summer break.

Strategic Planning 2020 and Beyond!

Have you shared your ideas for the next BBPS strategic plan? Please click on the “Have Your Say” tab on the school website.  It’s really important that we hear from as many parents as possible across our multicultural community.

PTA

Thank you to all the families that raised money through the math-a-thon.  Not only have we raised essential funds, it has been great to hear the increase in maths knowledge.

The calendar art has been opened up for further ordering, so pop online with your child’s code to order.
