The sun a huge, glowing sphere of hot gas. 70% of the hot gas is hydrogen and 28% is helium. The sun has lived for 4.6 billion years. The temperature of the sun is 5,500 deg C which is really hot. The sun is so big it could fit billions of people in. The sun is formed from a giant, rotating cloud of gas and dust also known as solar nebula. When the nebula collapsed because of gravity, the material was pulled closer to the centre to form the sun. An interesting fact about the sun is that the light from the sun takes eight minutes to reach Earth.
