Swimming

swimmingBucklands Beach Primary School’s swimming pool is open all through the summer. Students use it during the day for swimming lessons, training and playing in. Families from the local community use it after school and in the weekend.

Some seniors compete in races to get into the interschool swimming sports.

At the end of summer the junior school children have Splish Splash Day to celebrate all their new learning and confidence in the water.

Recently we have had solar heating installed in our pool so all students can swim without getting cold.
We enjoy our swimming pool alot.

Triathlon

Many children from BBP participate in triathlons. At the beginning of the year there is the Weet-bix Triathlon at Mission Bay. In April there is a triathlon at Eastern Beach, lots of our community go to participate or support. The children do their swim training in our school pool at lunchtimes. This year we took the top places in both the boys and girls events. Children from Year 2 up competed in the Eastern Beach event.

The Interschool Swimming Sports

Bucklands Beach Primary School had been training for weeks for the Interschool Swimming Sports.
On a Tuesday in March, everyone who had been chosen to represent BBPS lined up. Only a small selection of the school was picked and I was of them.
It was very exciting when we got there.
The stroke I was doing was breaststroke with a dive start. I was racing near the end of it. Everyone was shouting "Go BBPS."
People in the pool were zooming past. It was fantastic. Then everyone was very tired so they all went home. Hopefully their Mums gave them a special treat.
We were all looking forward to the sports. Now we know how it feels.
We read this out in assembly and got given certificates. We felt proud.
