 PTA Update:

New Chairperson:

  • Unfortunately, due to a change is circumstances, Clare Tan is not able to take up the chairperson role.
  • We are on the search again.
  • It was suggested that we divide the role into bite size pieces, i.e. chairperson just running the meetings, event organiser to organise fundraiser and then find people to run it, person that counts money etc. all reporting back to the PTA Executive Committee

 Review Family Fun Night:

  • Kelly passed on feedback, all in all it was a great success
  • The PTA would like to thank everyone who helped make the event the success that it was – PTA, parents, teachers and school community for supporting it.
  • Profitability of the afternoon is still being calculated
  • The students who sold their Slime want to contribute some of their earnings back to the school by buying some new basketballs for the school – PTA/school have greatly accepted this kind offer.
  • Janet said the second hand uniform sales was a success, will be counting money soon.
  • Subsequent to the event, the PTA also received a $100 gift card from Fresh Choice for the event.
  • Philippa and Sarah are to organise thank you letters for the business donations (Monterey Movies, Countdown Highland Park, Fresh Choice, Neuf Combat)

Whittakers Chocolates:

  • Still 30ish boxes to sell.
  • Winner of $100 voucher is the Haxton twins selling 6 boxes
  • Winner of $50 voucher is the Tans selling 5 boxes
  • Anna has put some boxes of chocolates in local businesses.
  • 13 families still have not returned their chocolate money. Julie will kindly follow this up for us.
  • Ideas to sell the rest of the chocolates is chocolate Fridays after school for $2each or 3 for $5 and also there is 17 chocolate cake recipe bundles assembled from the Family Fun Night (recipe and 3 bars of chocolate for $5)

 Entertainment Book:

  • Have started receiving orders. Approximately 10 so far. Have ordered 20 books.

 Upcoming PTA Events:

Fundraiser – Jack Links Beef Jerky:

  • Jack Links has been designated by distributors and retailers as a Superstar product due to its phenomenal growth in retail sales. For the past 12+ years has enjoyed more than 20%+ year on year sales growth.
  • It is made in Auckland with 100% NZ Beef with all natural ingredients, using things like Celery Powder instead of sodium nitrates. The jerky is made from 100VL (100% visually lean) Steak cuts, which is expensive and very premium.
  • To make it a Zero Risk offer they will take back any stock not sold.
  • PTA need to see if it’s worth taking on as a fundraiser – perhaps send out a survey to our community.
  • Also can offer taste tests at the office with free samples we got given for people to try.

Update on recyclable vegetable bags for Term 2:

  • Sample of larger bag from ebay $2.34 size is 30 x 43 cm.
  • Rubbish Whisperer size is 23 x 33 cm.
  • Going to see if there’s any natural fiber bags.
  • Victoria can see if she can get it cheaper through suppliers she knows in Asia.

Update on Ice Skating Tour for Term 2:

  • Have changed date to the 7, 8, 9, 10 June.
  • Can use the hall on Sundays now as there isn’t Church there anymore.
  • Need to measure hall to see if it can fit the rink in there 10 x 16 metres.
  • Confirmed that the blades are similar to those used on an ice rink.

OYLA Youth Science magazine fundraiser:

  • After discussion we decided it was a no go, not appropriate. People look on the internet for uptodate information.
  • Cost was considerable as well

Sausage Sizzle:

  • The next proposed Sausage Sizzle is 22nd May and will fundraise towards the Choir transportation costs during Term 2

General business/other matters:

Class reps:

  • Still needing a class rep for Room 18.

BOT Project Update:

  • BOT, together with the Student Council and Enviro team have been been looking into extending the schools fitness track across the back of the field, behind room 9 to room 12, and installing fitness stations around this area.
  • This area will encourage exercise and a healthy lifestyle and living. It will be an open area and can be used by the public in the weekends.
  • The BOT have applied for a grant to assist with the costs and asked the PTA if they would be able to contribute $10,000 towards it.
  • It was moved that the PTA is happy to contribute $10k and be part of this project.
  • Update on Sunshade Project over the two playgrounds. The BOT is moving forward with this installation in the hope that it will all be in before the start of next summer. The cost is expected to be around $60k. The BOT have asked that the PTA fundraise for this project throughout 2018.
