Chess
The school has a group of committed chess players where they play against each other during morning tea and lunch breaks on a rotational basis.
Players reflect good chess etiquette - to be a good sport and to be respectful in the game of chess.
In Term 2, top four chess players are selected to represent B.B.P.S. in the Inter-school Teams Chess Championships preliminary round, held at Elm Park School.
We are also involved in a Mini Chess Competition during Term 3. This is held in conjunction with the Howick and Pakuranga Chess Club. The players in each team rotate each week, allowing many of our keen children to play against other teams and gain experience.

Chess Competition 2010
A group of students went to Bucklands Beach Intermediate School for the Chess Championships. The children were chosen by teachers because they were good players and were very keen.
At BBI we had seven matches. Our school won four medals and came third in the tie-breaker so we felt very proud. All of us tried our best, we didn’t want to give up and we love chess.
We all had fun and we all got a certificate. Four of our team also won medals.
