BBPS has a qualified librarian called Mrs Fausett, and she loves her job and is very organised and helpful to anyone who needs it.
She organises the school Library Monitors who are on a roster to run the library at lunch times. The library is open at lunch times to students to read, colour in, use the computers and play games like Connect 4 and Chess.
Every class has up to an hour allocated library time a week. It is used for learning library information skills, returning, choosing, issuing of books to take home or use at school and computer use.
The library has tiered seating that allows about two or three class groups to view and discuss computer presentations on a big screen together.
There are double doors out to a private paved garden area with tables and seats for quiet reading or group-based learning activities.
Some students take part in the Manukau Libraries Reading Challenges and Tina the Librarian from Highland Park Library comes to our school assembly and issues certificates. This year the theme was ‘Spies.’
